Prior to assembling Voodoo Blue, Steve performed in various rock/alternative bands. His musical journey began at the age of 14, when he received his first acoustic guitar. Five months later, Steve had already moved on to electric guitar and put together his first band. Polar Knights (influenced by a Scorpions tune) performed their first show at his schools spring talent show. It was then and there when Steve caught the bug and loved performing. Since then, Steve has been performing every chance he could.
Steve was introduced to SRV in the late 80s via Jeff Beck. Steve says, One of my greatest disappointments is that I never saw SRV perform live.. He was the Hendrix of my generation. I didnt really come to appreciate Stevies talent until it was too late. He was such a force, truly a monster on the guitar.
Steve put together Voodoo Blue in early 2000 and since has seen multiple line-up changes. Steves sincere drive and tenacity has kept Voodoo Blue moving forward. In the world of music & bands, a decade under a bands belt seems like a lifetime. I have seen many talented bands come and go. But Im happy to say we are still here and this incarnation of Voodoo Blue is the best of the best. I am very proud of what I have helped to accomplish. In the beginning, all I hoped to achieve is recognition within the city limits of Dallas. I am happy to say that there are SRV fans all over the world that appreciate what Voodoo Blue does each week. If it all ended today, Voodoo Blue has been my single greatest musical accomplishment.
